Understanding Internet of Things (IoT). Definition: IoT is simply the network of interconnected things/devices which are embedded with sensors, software, network connectivity and necessary electronics that enables them to collect and exchange data making them responsive. More than a concept Internet of Things is essentially an architectural framework which allows integration and data exchange between the physical world and computer systems over existing network infrastructure. The Internet of Things (IoT) is here and is becoming an increasing topic of interest among technology giants and business communities. The hype is not baseless as there are enough evidences to support the success of “Internet of Things” in the coming years.
IoT Council, a Thinktank for Internet of Things
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a vision. It is being built today. The stakeholders are known, the debate has yet to start. In hundreds of years our real needs have not changed. We want to be loved, feel safe, have fun, be relevant in work and friendship, be able to support our families and somehow play a role – however small – in the larger scheme of things. So what will really happen when things, homes and cities become smart? The result will probably be an tsunami of what at first looks like very small steps, small changes. The purpose of the Internet of Things IoT Council is to follow and forecast what will happen when smart objects surround us in smart homes, offices, streets, and cities.
The Internet of Things Consortium (IoTC)
The Internet of Things Consortium (IoTC) is comprised of more than 60 leading hardware, software and analytics companies – in areas including home automation, wearables, connected cars, smart cities, 3D printing, and virtual/augmented reality. On behalf of its members, the IoTC is dedicated to the growth of the internet of things marketplace and the development of sustainable business models. The The Internet of Things Consortium (IoTC) educates technology firms, retailers, insurance companies, marketers, media companies and the wider business community about the value of IoT. Founded in 2012, the IoTC is headquartered in San Francisco with a business development hub in New York.
